The Chaparral High School is property owned by the Ojai Unified School District (OUSD).
Recent History:
2011: Chaparral site declared surplus by OUSD.
2016: OUSD releases a Request for Proposal (RFP) to ask for proposals for site projects.
2018: There were three responses to the RFP and the OUSD board chose the response from Playground Design LLC based on “highest and best use.”
2021: Once the RFP response detail was widely shared in 2021 with the Ojai community, it was strongly rejected as inappropriate for downtown Ojai.
2022: Launch of this web site to ensure strong independent community updating and feedback around any future use of the Chaparral site.
